In 2019, we dedicated both time and money throughout November and December to support The Smith Family—Australia’s largest children’s education charity. With your help, we were able to bring smiles to the faces of the children and families in Australia who need it most.
The Smith Family is Australia’s largest children’s education charity helping children in need to succeed at school, so they can create better futures for themselves. Their Learning for Life program recognises that children living in disadvantage need extra support to stay in school and go on to further studies or a job. Learning for Life helps create better futures for children in need by providing:
- financial assistance from a sponsor to help families in need afford the cost of their child’s education;
- support from a Learning for Life Program Coordinator to connect the child and their family to local learning opportunities and other supports; and
- access to Smith Family educational programs to help children get the most out of their school years.
Each year The Smith Family delivers toys and books to children on their flagship Learning for Life program. In proud support, Assembly Label stores across Australia took part in the Toy & Book Appeal, donating more than 100 toys & books directly to The Smith Family who passed them onto families and children, who may have otherwise gone without on Christmas morning. During the appeal The Smith Family received a total of 109,152 Toys and Books that were distributed to 26,934 children.
In conjunction with our Toy & Book drive, we offered a Choose What You Pay option. A selection of styles were offered at up to 60% off the standard retail price with three additional pricing options. If you chose to pay more for the product, the difference was donated to charity and matched equally by us. The more you paid, the more we both contributed and the greater the total donation. The funds raised from this promotion were donated directly to The Smith Family and went towards ensuring children have access to all the possibilities education can bring. With your support, we raised $32,567.
